Four month update...

Four months already! Hell's teeth!

Kendal has new tricks.

1. He has found his feet, and likes to play with them alot - not quite putting them in his mouth, but I'm sure he will as soon as he figures that out.

2. With help from the physio, he's FINALLY raising his head when lying on his tummy, no screaming from him anymore - he LOVES doing it.

3. While lying on his tummy, he's discovered that he can roll over onto his back - there's not much control there at the moment, all very quick and 'woah!', but the look on his face is a picture.

4. He can also roll over from his back - onto his side, which he likes to do while sucking merrily away on his fist.

5. He's discovered the most ear splitting scream in the universe, and likes to use it when you least expect it - scaring the bejasus out of you.

6. He's teething. He's still a (mostly) happy chappy, but yesterday, we had to leave Costa's coffee shop, because he was so fractious. We've turned into that family that everyone hates - with the screaming baby and the fussing parents.

7. We took him 'swimming' on Wednesday. Northgate Arena in Chester has a great pool for the kiddies... no ladders/steps to climb down, you're just straight into an inch or so of water, which gets gradually deeper. We had him in a 'floaties' device for most of the time, but also had him swishing through the water from mummy to daddy a couple of times. He seemed to enjoy it - we're going to try and keep it a regular thing. The fact that I can't swim has made me determined that Kendal WILL be able to - particularly given the fact that Tilly Town has a number of canals and rivers.

8. We've started to offer him baby rice at lunch time. Only a tiny amount, on the guidance of his dietician. He's... 'interested'. Not sure if he finds it tasty or not. I spent an hour or so last week peeling, dicing, steaming, mushing a huge pile of carrots, that I've stored in the freezer in weaning cubes - I've pureed enough to last a month, for the price of one jar of Heinz 'Organics'. Happy mummy. We have to take his weaning slowly - only introducing one food at a time, for a week or so, before trying something else - just to ensure that there are no further allergies/intolerances. I'm looking forward to it.

In other news - Dave has been given a tentative schedule for his trip to Australia. Last week in November is looking likely, returning around 21st December. I'm planning on staying with his parents for a couple of nights a week, and I might ask my brother to stay in Casa Tilly for one night a week - rather than rattling round the house by myself.

Hopefully when Dave gets back we can have a 'holiday' and get ourselves up to the lakes or Snowdonia with his parents - sharing a cottage, I plan to have lots of lie-ins, and let every one else look after Mini Mint. :o)
