Pigging hell!... |
Well, it seems like my little puppy has been put on this earth to drive his poor mummy demented.
We've been admitted to hospital another two times this week, and have JUST returned home after the latest (four day) stint.
The poor little beggar had blood in his stools last Monday morning, we went to our GP, and he referred us to the hospital - they admitted us Monday night, took samples for tests (telling us that it could take upto two weeks for the results to come through) and then sent us home on Tuesday morning, telling us to 'keep your eyes on him' (??).
All week he was the same, he also seemed to be in pain, drawing his knees upto his chest and crying ALOT. Thursday night he literally never slept all night, I was virtually tearing my hair out, so I rang the hospital back on Friday morning, and spoke to a very nice doctor who knew us and told us to come back up. More tests and x-rays, nothing obvious showed.
The registrar told us on Saturday that it wasn't blood in his nappies, but mucous (bright red mucous?) and that we could go home, but to 'keep your eyes on him'.
I stamped my feet and asked exactly what that meant, he told me that if there was any more blood, to return the hospital - I refused to leave, telling him there's 'blood there now - what's the point of us going home. I want to see a consultant'.
So, we stayed another night, with the registrar refusing to talk to me - he didn't even come to Kendal's bed when he was doing his rounds! Thankfully, one of the nurses agreed with me, and sent some of Kendal's nappies to be analysed, (without the registrar's permission) and there WAS blood present.
We saw the consultant last night, and it seems that poor Kendal is allergic to the protein in milk. He's been prescribed a special milk that alters the structure of the amino acids, so that his body doesn't recognise them, and will absorb them more easily - and already he's a different baby. Very alert, less stressful.
Hopefully this is it now, they' ve found the culprit, and 'im indoors and I can get back to enjoying our bambino. And mummy can get some sleep!
