Three Month Update...

I guess I'm now officially a 'mummy'. Things seem to have fallen into their own little niche, we almost have (dare I say it) a routine. Little fella has dropped one of his night feeds himself, so I only get up once now, at around 01:30, and to be honest, I sometimes think he would sleep right through - but I'd rather wake him up to feed him than have him dehydrating (given his kidney problems).

We have lots of regular appointments to keep. Once a month we see Kendal's consultant - re his kidneys and allergies. In fact we have to see him tomorrow, and I will be asking him to delay Kendal's DMSA scan at the end of this month, as I really don't like the idea of him having radioactive materials being injected into him via IV.

We have started to see a dietician, who will be helping us to develop a weaning programme for Kendal, to minimise any further food intolerances/allergies - we are due to see her again on 5th October.

We are also waiting for an appointment for a physiotherapist, nothing serious, but the little fella seems to have a mobility problem with his neck. We've been told that it's just a matter of developing certain exercise routines, and he'll be right as rain.

The Health Visitor is still very much a part of our lives, I think she's waiting for me to have a complete melt down. She visits every two weeks, and phones us on the week when she's not visiting. She's actually a very nice woman, and I'm glad that she's around.

I take Kendal to be weighed every other Tuesday (it's usually only a monthly thing, but given Ks 'problems' they want to keep an eye on his progress).

Dave's parents are besotted with Kendal, and keep trying to think of excuses to come and visit, despite the fact that we've told them they don't need an excuse!

Zelda - blimey, what can I say, it's coming up to 12 months since she last had an alcoholic beverage. This is the longest she has EVER gone without alcohol. I don't know whether to be grateful to Kendal or not for saving her life... she's still a bit of a handful. She says she's going to celebrate her year of sobriety by giving up cigarettes. I may have to emigrate for the duration.

Dave and I seem to have developed a completely new relationship. I always knew he was a good 'un, but never quite realised just how good he was until recently. He makes me sandwiches every morning, so that he knows I eat lunch, and for a few weeks when I was particularly down, he carried out most of the household chores (cleaning, cooking, washing, ironing - the lot), without being asked to; he'd NEVER done the washing or ironing before, so I didn't know he had it in him. After 15 years together I guess it was about time, but still.

Kendal - is a little cracker. He's so smiley and chatty all the time, hardly ever cries - usually only when I've mistimed his feeds, and boy does he let me know! He wakes me up every morning, happily gurgling away in his cot. Even when I'm completely knackered, I can't help smiling at his 'conversation'. Especially when I mutter 'Good morning, Kendal' to him, as I'm getting out of bed, and he squeals in delight and starts waving his arms about.

I love him.

And I know he loves me.
