Oh, bum truffles... |
I had my Glucose Tolerance Test yesterday, and, it appears that my results are high at 8.9. The cut off point is 7.5.
I have to go back on Friday, to see a midwife, who will show me how to do home testing in order to monitor it over a longer period of time.
Bum.
So - does anyone know... is 8.9 HIGH, or borderline? i.e. is it something I should be worrying about, or is it something I need to 'keep my eye on' to prevent the baby becoming ill. I know it's not usually a long term thing, and will revert to 'normal' after the baby is born, but how does if affect the baby now? If at all.
I've also got another scan on Friday, as the consultant was convinced that Mini Mint was large for our dates - a symptom of Gestational Diabetes apparently.
I have to admit that I felt REALLY rough after taking the glucose drink in the hospital. I had hot flushes/flashes, felt sweaty and nauseous. I had to fill the jug back up with water and drink it, to prevent me from flaking out - that's how queasy I felt.
I'm such a wimp.
