Rain, rain, go away...

...and never flipping come back!

Yesterday lunch time I had to go to the shops, to get some goodies - it was a beautiful day, I was on a bit of a retro jag with "REM - Green" playing full blast in the stereo, windows down.

Lovely.

Three hours later the sky turned black, HUGE amounts of rain fell, we could even hear it above the sound of the machinery on the shop floor, and then HUGE hailstones followed - everybody lined up at our window looking out, like we'd never seen weather before.

Then, just as I was about to leave I heard a popping noise in the dark room and then really loud GUSHING noises.

I opened the door and was greeted by three foot high bursts of water coming out of the pipes connecting the film processor to the drains. Eek!!! There's lots of electrics on the wall near the drains too... I opened our studio door to see if there were any engineering bods about, and water gushed in all over my flip flopped feet!

Pure bedlam - all of the drains had backed up because of the rain; thankfully it was only the surface water drains, not the sewers.

So - I got an engineer in, and left him and Evil Co-Slave to it, while I ran out to my car to go home. Which is when I discovered that I'd left my windows open 4-5 cms.

Bleahahgagh!

Had to sit on soggy seats all the way home - I didn't have a coat so ran up the drive with my bag on top of my head, opened the back door - dived in, and stepped right into a HUGE puddle in the middle of my kitchen...

I looked up at the celing, and couldn't see any water damage - I was just about to scold the dogs, when I noticed the roller blind on the window was actually hanging off... my eyes glanced along the window and saw a huge damp patch in the reveal.

There is a quite large crack in the wall outside, but we were told it was only cosmetic and nothing to worry about.

Apparently we DO need to worry, because it's now letting in water.

Dave was supposed to get cracking on his dissertation today, and now he's obviously going to have to sort out the pointing instead.

Bum truffles.

More puppies ...

Jasper, after he'd been to the dog groomers last week - the stupid blue bow thingummy is apparently because he was a 'good boy'. This despite the fact that he kept head butting the woman in the face with his muzzle.

This is our two dogs in their box, with Dave's parents' dog keeping them company... they are only pretending to be cute.

Excuse the photoquality, they were taken with m'camera phone

Poor Fella....

I had to go home at lunch time, I thought I'd lost my purse and had to root through the kitchen bin, thinking I might have put it in a carrier bag and accidentally put it in the bin... not nice at all.

I eventually found it under the driver's seat in my car. Not amused.

Anyway - on the way home, I was diverted by the Police, due to flooding - but on the way back to work I got as close as I could to the area, so that I could take this photo, before doing a U turn in the road and heading back to the diversion.

Stoopid dog!

It was so hot in Runcorn yesterday, I was very squirmy m'self all day - but the poor dogs must have been demented.

We were dogsitting the Dave's parent's dog as well as having our two dogs - LOTS of water was consumed.

Jasper seemed to be particularly grumpy and sleepy...

He lay on his back like this - with a fan blowing across his stomach, for about 15 minutes... and then when 'im indoors came home, pretended to be scared of the fan, so that he could get loads of extra strokes and cuddles.

Bloody big tart.

Right now...

... I could eat a scabby dog.

Well - maybe not, but I would love to eat something un-wholesome.

I would love to eat a bar of chocolate.
Or a cake.
Or a big, fat, juicy, Burger King Big Whopper.

I would love to eat anything other than the nasty, nasty green salad I've been eating for lunch for the past two weeks.

/sigh.

I'll have to wait till I get home, and then I'm going to have a HUGE bowl of risotto.
(which isn't QUITE what I want, but is better than what I've got right now.)

I'm sure that I'll look back on this gratefully, when I get my blood pressure lowered, and can say 'IN YOUR FACE' to my stupid doctor.

Eeeeewwww...

The circus/fair has been in Runcorn this week.

They set up camp at the park where I walk the dogs twice a day, there was a nice little fence around the residential area, and a large rubbish skip/dumpster to the side, so that they could dispose of all of their waste.

Which makes a nice change to the huge amounts of rubbish that usually ends up strewn all over the park

They also had a Portaloo to the side of their camp.

When I went to walk the dogs this morning, the circus had cleared out - their rubbish was all gone too.

But their Portaloo had been left.

And someone had pushed it over.

I REALLY don't envy the person who's got to clean it out.

/boik

I just hope no-one was using it at the time!!!

Cigarettes and Whiskey...

Well - the Whiskey bit is right - just had m'self a wee dram before I shuffle off to bedski (it's good for the heart you know... really, it's purely for medicinal purposes.)

Ahem.

Anyway...

Sorry I haven't been around much lately guys - still being battered in work, due to Evil Co-Slave's holiday, but am getting lots of stuff done, and proving once and for all that I r0x0rs (or whatever you kids call it.)

I've had a lovely weekend - I got new hair on Saturday and 'im indoors says it makes me look Sccccchhhhexy.

So that's a good thing.

One of my minions in work said it made me look very 'European' - some evil beggar piped up with 'Yeah... EASTERN European.'

Cheeky monkey.

I may post piccies tomorrow, of old and new hair comparisons - new hair has bright, bright red bits in it... luverly.

Alot of the weekend was spent with Dave's parents, and was very enjoyable.

We took them for an Indian meal in Rusholme on Saturday, and went to theirs for a BBQ on Saturday, where I was accosted by the cutest, most intelligent 3 year old girl I've ever met in my life.

She was a little bit spooky.

She was fascinated by my digi-cam (it's a Canon Digital Ixus) and was posing like a goodun, then running back upto me, so that I could show her on the view finder the picture that I'd taken. She asked if she could take one of me - so I wrapped the strap around her wrist so that she didn't drop it, and then showed her which button to press and sat back.

She brought the camera upto her eye, told me to smile, pressed the button and then (without me showing her) switched to 'view mode' so that she could see what she'd taken.

She then told me to 'do it again, you look horrible'.

Sweet.

I then had great fun pointing her at different unsuspecting adults and getting her to sneak up and take close ups of their faces - with full flash... much fun.

/hee.

Broody?

Moi?

You betcha.

In other news - I found out today that 'im indoors has booked us on an "80's Weekender" over the forthcoming Bank Holiday.

I DON'T HAVE THE FAINTEST IDEA WHAT HE'S THINKING ABOUT!!

Photoness...

OK... for your delight and delictation, here are some photos from the weekend.

Sumara, the little 3 yr old scamp, who so fabulously wound everyone up all Saturday evening.

Tilly's old, long, dull hair.

Tilly's shorter, brighter hair. Happy.
