Little Bit Spooky... |
... I went to the dentist yesterday for some root canal work (oh shivery joy).
I had my initial appointment TWO MONTHS AGO, but had to wait till now before they could fit me in.
I was supposed to take a course of antibiotics to reduce the swelling and infection, but had to stop because I got a yeast infection in my mouth.
Sexy.
Anyway, back to yesterday... Herr Doktor was about half way through drilling into the first root, when I nearly flew out of the chair, nasty, nasty pain.
He said it was because of the infection, and that he'd taken a piece out of my gum as it was so bad (!!)
He then packed the hole in my tooth back up, told me to go away and make a new appointment and they would try again.
Pah - I've now got to wait till 9th December to have the work finished.
Grr. (Four months since the initial appointment).
So - I came back into work, with a big, fat, rubbery lip, where the anaesthetic hadn't quite worn off. That was nice, fielding client calls while sounding like John Merrick.
Through the evening, as the anaesthetic started to wear off, I started to feel pain, and quite alot of it, in my gums... I was not a happy bunny. By bed time I was nearly crying, but thought that if I dosed up on pain killers, and managed to get to sleep, I might be OK....
For some bizarre reason, when I finally did get to sleep, I was dreaming about an Ethiopian dancer (?!), it was quite a nice dream... even though I could still feel the pain, somewhere in the back of my consciousness. Then, half way through the dream, I felt someone kiss me on my cheekbone.
I opened my eyes thinking it was Dave, and that I must have been making some mumbling noises in my sleep... but he was fast asleep, facing the other way.
When I looked at the clock it was 2.30, and I could still feel the imprint of where someone had kisssed me. And the pain had gone.
It's 08:30 now, and I've still got no pain. Despite the fact that Herr Doktor said that he'd removed a piece of my gum.
I'm sure it was a dream, but...
I'm a bit spooked.
